LENGTH OF TOURNAMENT

Every team will face off against each other bringing it to a total of 5 matches.

Each match consists of a minimum of 4 games with a possible CA$HMAKER in each match. This means that every player will play a minimum of 10 games.

Games are played in true MPL fashion where teammates get to watch and cheer while the other two teammates play.

This it and all day event and could take 7+ hours to complete.

COIN TOSS

At the start of each Match, there will be a coin toss (or similar random selection). The winner will elect to choose the option of selecting the Home Team or Away Team for that Match, with the following:

HOME

The Home Team will get the luxury of deciding whether they want to choose the 4 matchups for the team matches, or for the Dreambreaker. Team matches will either be: players 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 1 & 3, 2 & 4.

They will also get to choose Serve or side for the first game. each additional game will rotate that selection even if a CA$HMAKER is played.

AWAY

The Away Team will get to decide the singles CA$HMAKER team order which can be any order of their players.

FIRST SERVER AND WHO STARTS ON WHICH SIDE

The Home team will choose the first game, and every game after will change teams. This also means that if there is a CA$SMAKER, the Home team will get to choose that.

MATCHES

Each Match will consist of four Games to 21 (win by 2) with rally scoring. The four Games will be played in one of the two preset orders available to be chosen by the Home team. A singles tiebreaker CA$HMAKER game will be played to determine the winner of the Match if teams are tied at 2-2 in Games. ALL 4 games must be played even if a 3-0 standing to keep point differential even.

GAMES

Game will be played with rally scoring to 21 points (win by 2). Players will change ends when one team reaches the score of 11. Rally scoring will be played until a team reaches 20, at which time the team reaching 20 is subject to a freeze on rally scoring and must score all future points while serving. If the trailing team reaches 18, that team too will be subject to a freeze on rally scoring and must score all future points while serving. If both teams are tied 19-19, then both teams are immediately frozen when it becomes 20-19. All games must be won by 2 points.

PLAYER CHANGE OF SIDE/SERVE

During rally scoring players do not switch sides after winning points. Player A for each team serves and receives on the right side when the score is even, and Player B serves and receives on the left side when the score is odd. A team may choose to switch player sides during a time-out or end change, and they must inform the opposing team of the switch before play resumes.

IF AN INCORRECT PLAYER/POSITION IS DETECTED AFTER THE POINT STARTS

1. If a player stops a live rally to notate the error, the rally will be replayed.

2. If the rally concludes naturally and then the error is mentioned, the rally will stand. All players played the rally in good faith and played to win.

CA$HMAKER (SINGLES TIEBREAKER)
TO DETERMINE WINNER

If two teams playing a Match are tied 2-2 after all 4 doubles  games, a singles CA$HMAKER will be played. A CA$HMAKER is a Game to 21 (win by 2) with rally scoring, where each team must rotate its 4 players for 4 singles rallies in a set order until the CA$HMAKER is completed. Immediately following the completion of the second and final mixed doubles game, the Home Team will have 1 minute to designate the first player selected in the order of rotation of its 4 singles players for the DreamBreaker to the tournament director. The Home Team’s #1 player will be disclosed to the Away Team. The Away Team will then have 1 minute to designate its opposing Player 1 to the tournament director. This process will repeat until all 4 players on each team are declared to the Tournament Director. The DreamBreaker will use the same rally scoring used in Games as described above. All team members will rotate in 4-rally rotations until the DreamBreaker is concluded (Player 1 plays 4 rallies, then Player 2 plays 4 rallies, then Player 3 plays 4 rallies, then Player 4 plays 4 rallies, and then the rotation repeats in the same order).

In terms of sides, singles players will serve from the side (left/right) of the court, based on their team score, as is typical in singles. The player will serve on the right side when that player’s team score is even, and when the team score is odd, the player on that team will serve from the left side of the court. During the CA$HMAKER, each team will be allotted one time-out. Teams will change ends when one team reaches the score of 11.

COACHING/LINE CALLS

Coaching by non-playing team members is allowed at any time when the ball is not in play if it does not interfere with continuous play or unfairly disrupt the opposing team. Non-playing team members are encouraged to sit/stand along the edge of the court or bench with their team. Team managers are encouraged to sit on the team bench or in the gallery behind their team and offer advice at their own peril. The team is allowed to influence or advise a player on a line call, but it must be done in a reasonable amount of time. It is ultimately the Team Manager’s decision to overrule his or her team’s call(s). The tournament Director may ask the Team Manager to make the call quickly. Managers are allowed to coach from the sideline but should not interfere with or disrupt game play.

HOW TO DETERMINE WINNER OF THE TOURNAMENT

The winner of the tournament will be the team with the most Match Wins. If one team has more match wins then the rest of the teams, they are the tournament winners.

if two or more teams have the same number of wins, the winner of the tournament will be chosen from these tiebreakers:

  1. Head to Head: If Two or more teams have the same numbers of wins, then head to head wins is the first tiebreaker.
  2. Net Games Wins (Wins minus Losses including CA$HMAKER): If head to head can not discover a winer, the second tiebreaker is the team with the bes net game wins.
  3. Point Differential %: If net games wins are tied among the remaining teams in contention, point differential % will be the third tiebreaker.
  4. Coin Toss: if amazingly there are still two teams still in contention, then a coin toss will be the deciding factor to choose the Tournament Champion.

"Amazing event over all. Worth the 2 hour drive for me. Maybe next one have all 6 courts going so we can play two team matches at the same time and make it a bit shorter day. I will do it again for sure. Very organized and thank you Charlott for being super sharp"
